We were contracted by the Shire of Esperance to work closely with their “Edge of the Bay Festival” events team for 2019. We developed a clear and succinct marketing strategy, months prior to the event launch date – and developed & produced their branding & marketing design / artwork throughout the complete event lead up.
We first began the project by completely re-branding the event, marketing it as an exciting “Festival” rather than just “another public event” - completely changing the way it was perceived by the Esperance community. From August / September through till December, Wayward Nation developed the following marketing collateral, which was distributed throughout the broader Esperance, Southern Coastal region:
- EDGE OF THE BAY FESTIVAL LOGO
Rebrand
Rebranded the old logo – with a new twist
- SAVE THE DATE
Pre-launch / soft launch
An A5 ‘Save the Date’ was distributed to generate buzz / hype for what was coming… and to remind people of the annual event date.
- POSTERS
Set of 5 Posters
We created a series of five posters which reflected different elements of the Festival: All Day Activities & Markets, Live Music, Food & Beer, Battle of the Bay, General / Overall Event. These were distributed through town, in shop windows, schools and community groups, reminding locals and visitors to the region that the event was happening. Included contact information to “find out more” on their Socials.
- EVENT MAP & SCHEDULE
Digital / downloadable Event Map and Event Schedule
We designed the Event Map & daily run down of the Schedule of Events, available to the public as a digital download – to print at home or save to phone / device (avoiding unnecessary print).
- SIGNAGE
Shop frontage signage
We designed the Festival’s informative signage as an extension of the marketing & brand assets - it was made up of an event map, schedule of events (day’s run down), sponsors & key event locations. This was installed on a 4 panel shop frontage in the heart of town, over a month before the event. This became the central hub for all event info (which was also available online) and worked extremely well to promote the event to anyone passing through town (locals and visitors alike).
- TUMBLER
Re-usable cups
The Shire envisioned the event to be single-use plastic free, so a tumbler was designed using the brand guides which you can purchase on the day and take home.
- SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING
Consultation & planning assistance for the Edge of the Bay
We worked with the events team to plan and assist a Social Media schedule & plan for digital distribution of event content.
We have loved working on this exciting project for our local community we are a part of, and successfully creating a strong, recognisable & successful brand that can be used each year forward for this annual event. Edge of the Bay Festival numbers rose from approx. 1000 attendees to over 3000 attendees this year – off the back of a successful media strategy & greater community awareness (and general event awesomeness!). Our reach extended through to the Goldfields & Wheatbelt – with visitors travelling to town for the one day event and staying for the whole weekend. We cannot wait to see what next year brings for Edge of the Bay Festival!
